London honoured for achievements on low-carbon vehicles
Transport for London (TfL), one of the partners in the Clean Fleets project consortium, has been honoured with two awards for its efforts to accelerate a shift towards lower carbon vehicles.
At the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership Champions Awards, TfL received the Outstanding Achievement Award for initiatives over the last decade, and together with Wrightbus a joint award for the manufacture of a new bus for London.
The judges have praised TfL as a world leader in the field of reducing emissions from transport. The highlighted the expansion of London’s hybrid bus fleet, supporting take-up of hydrogen and electric vehicles, and the introduction of the congestion charge and low emission zone.
The new bus for London is regarded as the most environmentally friendly bus of its kind. It emits half the NOx and CO₂ of diesel buses.
The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership Champions Awards celebrate outstanding and innovative practices in accelerating the shift to lower carbon vehicles and fuels, and reducing emissions from road transport. The award ceremony took place in London on 29th January 2013. For more information, visit the website of the low carbon vehicles partnerhip.

Interested in clean fleets? Express your interest!
The Clean Fleets project offers public authorities and fleet operators assistance with the implementation of the EC Clean Vehicles Directive, which is now integrated into national law in all EU Member States.
The project has launched a call for interest through which anyone interested in the project can sign up for the project newsletter and register their interest to receive free support.
Clean Fleets offers support with tendering, modular training, opportunities for information exchange and specific advice to those organisations who must comply with the Directive. The project will also assist those who wish to go further than compliance, with innovative ways to purchase or lease clean and energy-efficient vehicles.
